This Immeasurable Place, co-written with award winner author Lavinia Spalding and featuring images by world-famous photographer Ace Kvale, will include sixty new recipes, a zillion gorgeous images of Boulder, Utah and our glorious farm, plus more stories, history, and insight into the magic of Hell's Backbone Grill and the unique town we call home. We also have a lot to tell you about clean food, good dirt, and food justice in both the quiet little valley and the larger world. Come Visit Our Amazing Acreage!

We have our own farm! Not an herb garden, a farm! With a tractor and goats and everything!

At Hell's Backbone Grill, we serve food and drink that reflect our deep commitment to sustainability and intention to be of benefit in the world. Our ingredients are simple and honest: sustainably grown vegetables, herbs and flowers from the restaurant's own no-harm organic farm, and Boulder-raised grass-fed and -finished local lamb and beef. We lovingly tend over 75 heirloom fruit trees and 130 heritage-breed laying hens who provide the eggs for the breakfast plates.

Hell’s Backbone Grill’s organic farm is located three miles south of the restaurant in Lower Boulder. Our skilled team of farmers, WWOOFers and volunteers work to supply our kitchen with as many varieties of heirloom vegetables, greens and herbs as possible during our growing season. Our awesome cook team works diligently to capture and preserve the bounty of the fields. We freeze, dry and can every last morsel!

The farm is worked organically, employing principles of sustainability and Buddhist values of right livelihood. We use no chemicals, all weeding is done by hand (or by our two rescue goats), and we rely on companion planting and relocation to deter pests. Between our six acres, our hoophouse and the straw-bale greenhouse, we grow over 22,000 pounds of produce a year!

Reservations are strongly recommended for dinner.

From mid-March through the end of November, we are open 7 days a week for breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please call 435-335-7464 or email to make reservations while you are in Boulder. Reservations are not required for groups of 7 or less at breakfast and lunch.

Fourth of July Parade and Talent Show!

We might be biased, but we think that Boulder's 4th of July celebration is the best in the country. So join us! There is no shortage of festivities here in Boulder.

July 3rd: The town of Boulder will hold a parade, BBQ, and dance in our beautiful town park. This is open to everyone and is not to be missed!

July 4th: Every year, Hell's Backbone Grill & Farm and the Boulder Mountain Lodge put together an ice cream social and talent show, and it is our favorite event of the year! Both locals and travelers alike show off their talents - from singing to hula-hooping to story-telling and everything in between. All are welcome and encouraged to take to the stage!

The Monks Return to Boulder!

July 2017, exact dates TBD

A group of Tibetan monks from the Drepung Loseline Monastery are returning to Boulder this July! In the past, they have created beautiful sand mandalas and performed a Sacred Arts of Tibet program, which includes dance and polyphonic music. Join us - this is an experience that is not to be missed!

Hell’s Own Thanksgiving Feast

Our Thanksgiving Feast is our favorite event of the year, when we celebrate the bounty of our harvest and the end of another beautiful season in Boulder. Many of our guests return year after year to this dinner.

We offer an unforgettable meal utilizing fresh ingredients from our farm and local producers. Traditional heritage breed turkeys are prepared from scratch, along with over 30 accompanying side dishes and desserts. Blake prepares a selection of beautiful wines and a full bar list to accompany the different courses. Many of our dishes are vegetarian and/or gluten-free. Dinner is served family style at communal tables.
